Question: What's the biggest difference between an Android tablet and an iOS based tablet?
Answer: The smug feeling you get for owning an Apple product.
I kid. I kid.
For Android platform lovers, the Motorola XOOM can be a decent tablet solution, especially whenever the darn thing is on sale. The most recent sale price drops the WiFi only model to the respectable pricing of $500, which ironically enough was avaialble from MacMall. You get a 32GB machine with a microSDHC expansion slot for the same price as the latest iOS tablet. Sporting the very fast Tegra 2, the Xoom can be a graphical powerhouse and chugs along just fine as you multitask between a HD clips and another redition of whatever popular tower defense games there is. For those of you still trying to save money on a Honeycomb 3.0+ tablet though, you probably should just wait to see how the Asus Transformer pans out.
These days you'll often find the Xoom dipping to the $350 price point, but once in awhile you'll get a great deal like the Xoom "Family Edition" (basically just 16GB vs 32GB for a very attractive price of mid-$250.

Available again, the XOOM family edition refurbished is $239.99 from Mwave through their eBay store. Well rounded Android 3.1 tablet, probably would have sold like crazy had it came out at this price range.

Really great price for an Android 3.1 tablet from a higher-end manufacture. The "family edition" is basically just a 16GB model, with all the same ports and spec of the 32GB regular XOOM. Bigdeals has a refurbished unit for sale at only $239. Pretty sweet price for a Tegra 2 unit with handy outputs such as micro-HDMI, micro-USB etc.

Yesterday, Dailysteals had a brand new Motorola Xoom w/ 32 GB for $350 only. Microcenter has $50 off on any Android, Blackberry, and Windows based tablets too if anyone is interested but its in-store only I believe.

Tempting. But Motorola is coming out with a $379 MSRP Xoom 'Family Edition' with pretty much the same hardware. I'd rather get a new one than take a risk with this refurb.

Yeah good move on waiting. Considering the kids-friendly family edition Xoom is basically the same thing (I personally never need 32GB on a tablet), you're better off getting a new model for slightly more.

If the brand new Amazon Fire doesn't get you hot and bother because you want a more full tablet experience (whatever that means), today's Woot.com deal is a nice manufacturer refurbished Motorola Xoom with Android 3.1. Pretty sexy price for a 32GB.

actual best price I've ever seen was Staples a few weeks back. They emailed out a coupon for $100 off any tablet (excluding only the then newly released HP). So in addition to the recent $100 drop to 499 could have been had for 399.
