The upgraded version of the new X220 gets you the faster Core i5-2410M 2nd generation Sandy Bridge processor clocking in at 2.3Ghz with 3MB of level 3 cache and 1333Mhz front side bus speed (geez I remember when CPU speed was slower than the FSB!). This is a customizable option, you can configure up to the i5-2520M (2.5Ghz), i5-2540M (2.6Ghz), and finally the top-of-the-line Core i7-2620M (while not a quad core i7, it is still ridiculously fast 2.7Ghz processor with 4MB of L3 cache. Adding more configuration to this business ultraportable can get a bit pricey (e.g., more RAM). We recommend you simply replace the RAM yourself as it comes with a 1DIMM 2GB stick, meaning there's another free slot for another 2GB. There's no HDMI option but you do get a DisplayPort along with the usual VGA D-sub out. Lastly, slapping in the optional external slice battery option gets you another 6-cell battery option that beefs your battery runtime from 8 hours to about 16 hours. Insane.

Ending later tonight, the X220 coupon makes this i5 configuration for the Thinkpad X220 at the cheapest price ever. You get more RAM than usual (+2GB since Lenovo likes to charge a bundle for their RAM) and you get a faster Core i5-2520M (2.5Ghz vs the previous 2.3Ghz 2410M config).

Awesome 4th of July special from Lenovo on the high-end ultraportable ThinkPad X220 laptop is ending tomorrow! A 2nd gen Core i5 machine with superb battery life and weighing in only at around 3 lbs for under $800 is a slammin' deal. Anyone that wants a slim and functional machine just won the waiting game because this is the lowest ever price the i5 X220 has been at. Feels good man.
Wasn't this same configuration, $806 mid-June?

Yup good memory. Looks like it was $806 on June 15th. Sorry for not being clear but the real price savings is when you configure it up to the i7 version, which is much cheaper than the previous low I believe.

Lowest ever price on the 2nd gen Core i5 version of the brand new ultraportable X220! Limited time 72 hour sale via the coupon makes this a pretty enticing offer. You'll need to add 2 more GB of memory to make the machine chug along better, which is easy enough via third party retailer since there's 1 DIMM slot free. Shipping is free but the IPS panel upgrade isn't. Cursed world! (Only $50 for IPS though vs $100 before).

Lowest price yet on the X220i tablet version with the 2nd Gen i3. New coupon for the X220 "THINKSAVINGS" makes this a pretty attractive offer if you need a ultraportable that you can do actual work on, but also the ability for a convertible tablet on those moments when you need faster input via a digitizer pen without the distraction of a keyboard.

Lowest price on the high-end ultraportable X220 laptop with a quad-core i7 is expiring later tonight. This deal beats the previous lowest by about $60, and the usual going price is around $1100 to $1150.
its not quad core

Woops you're correct. The 2610M is a dual-core with more cache.
Coupons page says it is $999. Can't get it to work though.

Yeah it looks like the coupon wasn't working at Lenovo all day yesterday (even though they advertise it on their site as working). Confirmed to work now though, this matches the lowest price for the i7 dual-core config in past 2 months.

Sales on the high-end quad-core 2nd gen i7 X220 ultraportable business laptop ends tomorrow. The 4GB RAM, while plenty, is easy to upgrade since its currently in 1 DIMM slot, giving you another slot to up the juice some more (to 8GB). If you're springing for the i7 model, another $50 for the premium display with IPS panel is also highly recommended. SSD upgrade is definitely cheaper if you go third party and upgrade it yourself.
Comments, Questions, Feedback
If the higher end i5 X220 is too steep for you, the X220i is at a great bargain, currently at the lowest ever price by about $40. The 12.5-inch ultraportable is well reviewed by Anand, Engadget and other tech sites. This is one of the most popular laptop snagged by Dealzon users, much more so than its X201 predecessor.

Its ultraportable gangbuster sale going on at Lenovo and the X220i pre-configure is at a stupid cheap price. $65 cheaper than previous lowest price point. You also save about $50 on the i5 customizable configure, which is priced at $805. The new X220 is well reviewed, and if configured to highest spec, is one of the best ultraportable business laptop out there. Like most ThinkPad, RAM count is low and after market upgrades on memory is an almost must.
