On Dec 7th, 2011 HP updated the Envy 17 to the new 2nd Gen version (updated styling, neato looking Beats volume control on the side), MUCH better 1080p screen along with the "new" Radeon 7690M XT with 1GB (think 6770M performance).

33% Envy 17 coupon is back and you can now get the full 1080p 17-inch beast for the lowest price ever since the refreshed model was released. "New" 7690M GPU, better Radiance display, and a slicker built means its a laptop worth looking at.

Possibly the best deal online this week for a high performance/gaming laptop is the 17.3-inch HP Envy 17. Last week HP gave this machine a sleek new look, made 1080p a standard feature, and gave it the newest AMD graphics. This week HP gives the Envy 17 a $500 coupon code which makes it $100 cheaper than last week and $50 less than Black Friday/Cyber Monday with the non 1080p old design.

HP has extended the big coupon for the Envy 17 premium desktop replacement gaming laptop (wonder how many more adjectives I can fit in there), making this basically the lowest price ever. The high-end Radeon 6850M GPU equipped machine usually goes for around $1100 to $1200, and is rarely seen under the $1000 price mark. All around a popular machine considering it's stylish and powerful.
The video card calls itself a "1GB Discrete Graphics AMD Radeon(TM) [HDMI, DP]" is it really a 6850? There are no other choices for me.

Huh not sure why HP went and changed the description but I'm pretty positive its still a Radeon HD 6850M in there, considering they went and changed the naming convention for the Envy 17 3D models too but the spec sheet in the support site still list the 6850M.

Actually I'm going to double check on this. I forgot this is the new Envy 17 with the 1080p screen that came out at the same time as the new refreshed HP Envy 15.

what do you think, will the 30% discount which was available till the 23rd be available anytime again? I'll buy this computer, just don't know if I shall wait

Erik: Tough call actually because this was the first real major saving on the Envy 17 with the 2nd gen chip, so no real pattern on the coupon yet. If I have to make an educated guess, I'll say within 2 weeks.

Then we'll wait! :)
quick question for the guys from dealzon is this computer a great computer? is it worth the money ive heard bad things but thats y im asking
is it better to by it at this price now or should i wait for a better deal or a better config at this same price? I am not in a hurry. I can wait upto June 2012 for prices to drop or config to increase.

@vahid: I think the price won't move too much in the next 1-2 months, and the older price you see listed in the comments were for the older Envy 17 without full HD display, and the built is different too. In either case, if you're willing to wait until June 2012, I'd said you should wait too. By then the newer Ivy Bridge chips should be out and you'll have plenty more options and price to choose from.
thanks for the quick reply. Now we wait. You guys do a great job! say thanks to your whole team on behalf of me.

Could this play star wars: the old republic on its highest settings?

Yeah most likely. Minimum system requirement is a dual-core Core 2 Duo+ system and pretty low spec. Even the "recommended" SWTOR specs are easily matched by the Envy 17 so I don't think you'll have an issue. Those specs are quad-core Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz, ATI 4850+ or GeForce GTX 260+. The GPU in the in the Envy 17, while slower in some aspect is still faster than the high-end 4850 a 1.5 generations ago (given that the 7690M is a rebranded 6000 series GPU).

Brand new refreshed HP Envy 17 just released today by HP and available to order. Why pay full price when you can tack on the coupon to get almost 30% off? New Envy 17 comes with full 1080p display, more stylish built, Beats volume control and the "new" AMD 7000 series Radeon GPU.

Apparently the coupon code listed here does not apply to the ENVY 17 3D, but they wouldnt tell me why it still applies it anyway...

If you're looking for a high powered heavy duty desktop replacing laptop check the 17.3-inch HP Envy 17 3D laptop. It got a $400 coupon which stacks with $250 of instant savings. That makes it $150 cheaper than Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

Does this work in the UK?
reply
Unfortunately no, the UK shopping site has its own HP e-Voucher that are different than the Envy 17 coupon code we have here. There's also no real way to shop from the HP U.S. site and have them ship internationally too, so I suppose if you really want it, you may have to bug a friend across the pond if available.

Man i was so disappointed that HP doesnt even ship to Canada, i really wanted this laptop rather the beats one. Tough luck, if anything use one of those redirecting sites where they give u a us address then re ship it to your address
