The Harman Kardon HK 3390 is an excellent place to start if you're looking to build an inexpensive but high-quality setup primarily for 2-channel music. First of all, it's a
Harman Kardon receiver, which should already say something to you if you haven't been living under a rock for the past few decades. You can be assured of very clear output. It looks pretty classy, too. The main caveat is it doesn't do surround sound - but that's kinda the point. Since the components are dedicated entirely to stereo audio rather than split amount six or even eight speakers, the receiver should do stereo particularly well. HK 3390
reviews at Amazon seem to concur.
HomeTheaterReview gave this receiver
4/5 stars for both performance and value. I wonder if they'd bump the value star up one if they were looking at the price we have it for instead of the suggested retail of $400...
If you're reading this, you might want to jump on this deal, since Crutchfield's site says the model is discontinued.

If you're looking for an inexpensive, well-thought out, audiophile-grade stereo receiver for under $200, you should take a look at the HK 3390. Reviews are predictably great (it's a Harman Kardon, after all), and if you don't need surround sound or just want a receiver that does music really, really well, this will probably do the trick. Right now it's at its lowest price ever, and while Amazon's price is fairly close, most other sites are selling it for $350 right now - because it's still worth that much and people will buy it. (But because you know about Dealzon, you'll never be one of those people...)
