Low Down on the Entry-Level Dell Professional Laptop
Dell's Vostro line-up of laptops are aimed at the small business laptop, but really, it works well for anyone looking for its particular styling and features at the price point, whether you're running a small business or just needs a no-frills laptop for college work.
Newly introduced 3350 is a 13.3-inch laptop rounding up the offerings from the 14-inch 3450, the 15-inch 3550, and the 17-inch 3750. Weighing in at about 4.6, the laptop, while not an ultraportble is definitely a lot more portable and mobile than its bigger 15/17-inch brothers. Processor choices comes in 3 form, the entry-level Core i3, the mid-range Core i5, and the higher end Core i7. If you're just going to be doing word processing type of work, the i3 and i5 will work just fine, as all processor choices are from Intel's new 2nd generation Sandy Bridge line-up.
GPU choices are mostly the integrated Intel HD 3000 via the 2nd gen Core series chips, or a Radeon HD 6470M, which is an okay lower mid-range GPU. Unless you're planning to do heavy multimedia work or gaming on the Vostro 3350, we wouldn't really recommend getting the Radeon upgrade. Memory count for the laptop maxes out at 6GB, and we recommend anything above 4GB.
Overall, the Vostro 3350 is a nice addition to the rounds of Vostro laptop. If you need a laptop that presents a more professional feel (vs. the mainstream Dell Inspiron lineup), with superb keyboard, this 13-3-incher can be a good fit.
