Update: As of early first quarter 2011, Dell has discontinued their Studio 17 laptop (along with other sizes such as Studio 14 and Studio 15). For those still shopping for a Dell 17-inch desktop-replacement, we highly recommend you to take a look at the Dell Inspiron 17, which is a very similar laptop if you're looking for an updated 17-inch Dell machine. It's packed with 2nd gen Sandy Bridge Intel CPU, and you'd have option to configure them with discrete-class GPU along with more RAM, better display, etc.
Dell's Studio 17 laptop is a sight to behold. Packed with features including Windows 7, an optional 17.3-inch multi-touch (1600 x 900) LED backlit display, customizable colors and case graphics, up to an Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM, 500GB 7200RPM hard drive, Blu-ray drive, and 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD graphics card.
Depending on how you configure it, you can get the Studio 17 for under $800 or if you opt for all the options listed above, you're easily looking at over $1000.
