A495 is a basic point-and-shoot camera that's practical for people who just wants to capture every moment. Easy to unbox; it has only the camera, a user manual, and a cd. No sd card included except for bundles. It is very light and made of plastic but feels durable. It's slightly larger than other compact cameras and a bit bulky to pocket. It has comparatively larger screen that most point-and-shoot cameras.
The slow start up, power down, and ready time is slow and can be annoying. Both startup and power down takes 1.5 seconds, while ready time takes 2.5 seconds after a picture has been taken, and will take longer when flash was used. The camera produces very nice and vivid macro shots, bright and brilliants colors, and considerably lower noice level than other cameras when on higher exposure or higher iso setting. Power saving features allows AA lithim or rechargeable batteries to last up to more than 500 shots. Powershot A495 has no image stabilization feature.
