Battlestar Galactica is a military scifi tv series set in Twelve Colonies in a distant solar system.  The Cylons turned the colonies into wastelands when they launched a sneak attack with the help of a human.  Batllestar Galactica is the only military capital ship that survived the attack.

The Battlestar Galactica series has received numerous awards and nominations including Peabody Award, Emmy Awards Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series, and Television Critics Association Program of the Year.
