EXPIRED: Apple Back to School Sale: Buy a Mac, get a FREE iPod

Apple Store has a Back-to-School special dealthat runs through September 7.

Their advertising copy says: "Buy a Mac for college, and get a free iPod touch" but it is a little more nuanced than that, so we'll break it down for you here. 

Who's Eligible for This Deal?
- College students
- Parents buying on behalf of their college student child
- Employees of colleges and universities
- Employees of K-12 schools

Which Mac computers can you buy?
You can buy any new Mac computer from the Apple Store with their special pricing for Education customers.
- MacBook (white) laptop
- MacBook Pro laptops
- MacBook Air laptops
- iMac all-in-one desktops
- Mac mini desktops
- Mac Pro desktops

Which iPods can you get for free?
Apple Store's advertisements say you can get a free iPod touch, and that's true, but you can't get ANY iPod Touch for free, AND that's not the only iPod you can get.

They will rebate up to $199 for your iPod. That means that the most expensive iPod you can get for free after rebate is the 8GB iPod Touch, which costs $199.

You can get a less expensive iPod...
- iPod Nano
- iPod Classic
- iPod Shuffle
...and get a rebate for the full price of any of those iPods.

You can also choose the more expensive...
- 32GB iPod Touch, which costs $299
- 64GB iPod Touch, which costs $399
...but your rebate will only be $199, so they won't be free like the cheaper iPods.
