Thanks to a special voucher code from Amazon Local today you can grab an Amazon Kindle for less than $50. That's the lowest price ever for a refurbished unit by $20 and $30 cheaper than than buying in brand new condition. Personally, I thought this offer was just too good to pass up. Only question now is will I use it myself or give as a gift.

If you need a really nice gift under $100 for someone who can read, I recommend this newest and cheapest Amazon Kindle reader. I bought it as soon as it came out because it's $35 cheaper than the older model was and I don't think upgrading to "touch", no ads, or 3G for $20, $30, or $70 is worth the extra money. This Kindle is super thin, feels great, and gets the job done for enjoyable portable reading.

Wow, just checked out my local Walmart - some person bought all 21 fire's in stock this morning! Isn't there rules against that?

was the guy the store manager or something? what the... you'd think it will be sensible for them to have a limit per customer or something.

Here's a pretty rare limited-time deal on a Kindle Fire from Walmart. You get the same price on Amazon PLUS a Walmart $50 gift card, making this deal a better value and beating out the refurbished deal last week. While the Kindle isn't some magical iPad killer, it sports a nice IPS panel, dual-core processor, and enough value for the price tag. Retail store only deal, YMMV.

Looks like the Kindle Fire Walmart deal is in-store only and valid till Feb 14 or so.

I thought the Kindle Fire was the best value tablet on the market when it was launched, but now I'm pretty darn sure of it since today all the tech blogs are reporting that Amazon is selling it for $1.70 less than it costs them. Obviously they hope to profit from content you buy, but it's nice to know you're not getting ripped off on the hardware, and that will definitely make the Kindle Fire a hot Christmas gift.
